Owensboro Distance Education Program Receives KBN Approval

Beginning in the summer of 2009, University of Louisville will offer distance education nursing courses through Owensboro Medical Health System (OMHS).

The UofL School of Nursing and OMHS are proud to announce the Kentucky Board of Nursing approval of their new partnership.

Students that meet admission requirements into this competitive program will complete nursing courses for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from UofL in Owensboro. All nursing courses and clinical requirements will be completed in Owensboro, Ky.

Three Owensboro-based colleges will work closely with UofL to assure the transferability of courses. Students can take the first two years of degree applicable course work at Brescia University, Kentucky Wesleyan College or the Owensboro Community and Technical College. The first two years of courses include general education requirements and program specific freshman and sophomore level courses. After completing UofL  junior and senior level nursing courses in Owensboro, students will earn their BSN degree from the University of Louisville. 

The University of Louisville School of Nursing will begin accepting applications January 1, 2009 for summer 2009 admission with clinical courses to start in fall 2009. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2009. A maximum of 20 students will be admitted in the fall.

The deadline for spring 2010 is June 1, 2009.  Students with take first semester non-clinical courses in fall 2009 and clinical courses will start in spring 2010.
