Bio

Program of Research:

In her New Mother Research Program, Dr. Logsdon has completed 25 research studies of community and clinical populations.  For the last 10 years, Dr. Logsdon has examined maternal role functioning in women with postpartum depression.  In her laboratory at the School of Nursing she conducted behavioral coding of maternal infant interaction to determine any improvements with depression treatment.  In the community, Dr. Logsdon investigated barriers to treatment of adolescent mothers with postpartum depression, and she has tested interventions to improve rates of treatment.  Her current Community Based Participatory Research focuses on promoting positive parenting and improving health literacy in adolescent mothers through community engagement.  Her research team at the University of Louisville Hospital is testing outcomes related to implementation of evidence based policy to support perinatal nurses in preparing women to recognize and seek treatment for postpartum depression.
