Bio

Program of Research:

In her primary program of research with families caring for a child having a chronic illness (e.g., cancer, special needs, burns), Dr. Lehna has implemented a variety of research methods (e.g., ethnography, photographic voice, life story, community participatory action research, and mixed-methods) to investigate long-term adjustment and coping strategies, and quality of life.  She has a second research focus in primary prevention in childrearing families (e.g., burn and childhood injury).  Another focus is examining the effectiveness of different educational methods with parents, students and professional healthcare providers (e.g., online, classroom, DVD, etc.).  Dr. Lehna, in a final focus is exploring the healing efficacy of two standard products for facial burns.
