Learning Resource Center

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) at the University of Louisville’s School of Nursing houses the Simulation Lab, Clinical Learning Lab (CLL), and two graduate labs.  These labs give nursing students many opportunities for learning and experiencing.  The LRC is located on the third floor of the SON, and easily accessible to students.

The CLL boasts 7 low-fidelity adult manikins and 2 pediatric manikins, used for task-training in the Upper Division.  The 11 station rooms are setup as a nursing ward with a nursing station in the middle.  Everything from nursing assistant skills, assessment skills, dressing changes, IV insertion, medication administration and many more tasks are learned in the CLL.

The Simulation Lab is two hospital-like rooms and an observation/control room used for simulated scenarios for student learning.  The Simulation Lab contains 3 high-fidelity manikins, as well as a newborn manikin.  These manikins give a human-like realism to the simulation experience.

Two graduate labs are also located in the LRC.  The 11 stations have an acute care clinic feel.  Graduate students perfect their assessment skills through the use of task-training models and standardized patients.

Audio/visual equipment is throughout the LRC and Simulation Lab and is used for student competency grading as well as debriefing of simulated scenarios.

For a list of materials for student use or general questions, please contact Andrea Gibson, LRC Coordinator, 502-852-0713.
