Academic Programs
The UofL School of Nursing offers a diverse selection of programs: undergraduate, master's and PhD programs. Located in the heart of a thriving health sciences center, students at the school learn the latest medical advances and are educated in a highly innovative environment.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
The School of Nursing undergraduate program offers a variety of programs that lead to becoming a registered nurse.
- Traditional BSN - This 4-year program is for students interested in becoming registered nurses.
- Traditional BSN Owensboro Campus Program - Similar to the Traditional BSN Program except that students complete their 58-67 hours of pre-requisite courses at a college or university in Owensboro, and apply as a trasfer student to UofL and complete all upper division classes and clinical rotation assignments at OMHS in Owensboro, Kentucky.
- Accelerated Second Degree Program - For students who hold bachelor's degrees in other fields interested in earning a BSN.
- RN-BSN Online Program - For registered nurses interested in earning a bachelor's degree through online courses.
Master of Science in Nursing
The School of Nursing offers a Master of Science in Nursing degree with eight different clinical tracks. There is also post-masters study, available in each of the nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist tracks. Graduates of programs offering certification exams will be eligible to take the exam in their area of study.

Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing
The Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing program is designed to prepare nurse scientists who will assume a variety of roles in education, research, leadership and health policy. Two progression tracks are offered in the program:
- BSN to PhD
- MSN to PhD
