UofL Dance Theatre
Member of the Kentuckiana Cultural Consortium and the Regional Dance America / Southeastern Regional Ballet Association. The U of L Dance Theatre is by invitation only. Those students invited to participate are required to take a minimum of four weekly classes and to attend rehearsals. The Apprentices are the aspirant group to the Dance Theatre. Those students invited to participate are required to take a minimum of four classes a week. These groups have the opportunity to perform in the annual Children’s Demonstration, Theme and Variations, Clara’s Dream, and The Spring Gala. The Dance Theatre dancers have the opportunity to perform at the annual S.E.R.B.A. Festivals and at community outreach programs throughout the year.
Children’s Demonstration
The Children’s Demonstration allows all students from Beginning through Dance Theatre the opportunity for an educational, onstage, performance experience. It will be held on Friday, March 15, 7:00 p.m. Rehearsals will be held separately from classes and attendance at all rehearsals is required. Sign-up sheets will be posted.
Clara’s Dream
The U of L Dance Theatre’s Nutcracker is performed in December with three public performances, and two school performances. Dance Academy students Levels I-V are invited to participate. Mandatory rehearsals are held outside of class times. (A rehearsal schedule is provided before they begin in September.) We understand that this can be a big commitment at holiday time, but the children who choose to participate are rewarded with a very positive performing experience. Performances will be November 30th -December 2, 2012
