Guest Lecturer: Clifford K. Madsen

As Chair of the Research Committee of the American Music Therapy Association for over three decades I have seen the field of Music Therapy evolve across these many years. With every advance in therapeutic effectiveness the only constant has been the associations’ policy to insure that each new technique and/or development is based on solid empirical research. Presently the “gold standard” based on experimental research is a cognitive-behavioral approach that is used with most adolescents and adults and very specific physiological metrics used within Medical Music Therapy. This session will explore these cognitive-behavioral approaches.
