Activities
The Friends have numerous activities, both free and ticketed, that the members anticipate each year. In early September, the Friends members and prospective new members get together at a reception and dinner at the Speed Museum following the Faculty Gala concert at the School of Music. This popular event is one of the best values in Louisville, an exciting concert featuring the talented faculty of the School of Music and a reception and dinner with Friends all for $75 per person. Last year, a seldom-heard organ and bagpipe piece brought down the house! In the fall, there is usually a special FREE event for members called Meet the Professor. Faculty from the School of Music or one of our internationally affiliated schools are featured for a program and performance followed by a question-and-answer period and then a reception. A second FREE Meet the Professor is sometimes held in winter or spring. Next up in February or March is our annual fund raising event, in recent years a very successful Cabaret including food and drinks that is a ticketed event and is usually sold out. The Annual Meeting in April is another special FREE event and brings out many members. Prior to the music program, there is a brief business meeting of the Board and the membership at which officers for the next year are elected. Then a program of music is presented by scholarship students at the School of Music, followed by a reception with wine and visiting with one another. All these activities range from being informative to enjoying concerts and just having a good time with the Friends. Document Actions |
