Message from Campus Postal Service: National Change of Address (NCOA) now required for all Permit Standard Mailings
Due to a postal regulation change, all Permit Standard Mailings must now be checked against the National Change of Address (NCOA) database. Mailings processed by the university’s contracted vendor, United Mail, will be assessed an additional $75 fee for this service. Postal Services has acquired software and will provide this service for 3.3 cents per address, with a $75.00 cap; a considerable savings over the contract price on small mailings. We have also acquired the technology for applying addresses using an ink jet process and for label printing. From the PO Manager: "If you are going through United Mail with the processing, labeling etc, you don't have to do anything, just expect to pay more. If you are putting your own labels on, we must see this list on the front end and run it through the National Change of Address Data (NCOA) database. This updates your list for you and checks it for correct addresses. When your mailing goes to the USPS for processing, we have to sign off on it and say that it is a good list, and that it has been checked. The key point is, before you print any labels we have to process your list." For guidelines see http://louisville.edu/postal/permit
Also from the PO: Are you receiving unwanted catalogs? Go to www.catalogchoice.org or www.dmachoice.org to remove your address from mailing lists.

Important Message from the Provost
All faculty received an email yesterday from the Provost about flu preparation. The dean wishes to stress the Provost's requirement that a course continuity plan for your own potential illness be established over the next three weeks for each class/studio. Read her entire message.
Request from Toni Robinson
In my new role as Admissions Counselor, I believe we could have a bigger presence with our social media efforts. I am not sure how many of you read the article in last week's Courier-Journal about the arts and social media, but it was one worth reading. To that effect, we want to make sure prospective and current students, as well as alumni and teachers, are aware of our presence on Facebook. The Facebook phenomena cannot be underestimated. It is a free marketing tool for us, so we should try and spread the word about everything we have to offer through that channel. To that end, I would like to suggest all faculty and staff add the following line to their GroupWise signatures:
Keep up with UofL School of Music news and events on Facebook! Become a fan at: http://www.facebook.com/uoflmusic
This is an easy way for people to keep up with what we are doing. It also provides links to our website and event calendar. Thanks - Toni
