Continuity of Instruction Planning - Procedures for Evaluation of Instruction
Word Doc
1. All course syllabi for Spring 2010 should have directions for students about contact information and what to do in case classes cannot meet on regular schedule.
2. Faculty members should have evidence of having developed alternate assignments / methodology to ensure that instruction continues throughout any emergency period.
3. Division Heads should discuss plans with their groups and advise as needed. Naomi Oliphant is the collection point for revised syllabi and inventory of courses.
Student Evaluation of Instruction
Today faculty members will find in their mailboxes Evaluation of Instruction forms and Comment Sheets for all courses you're teaching this semester. PLEASE read the attached, revised guidelines, especially our new faculty. Forms are to be handed out and returned by or before the last day of classes (Dec. 7). Under no circumstances should this process be carried out during or after the final exam period (Dec. 9-15). It's mandatory that all students be given a chance to comment on their experience in all our classes, so your attention is much appreciated. Aaron Vowels coordinates this process and can answer any questions you may have.

Benefit Media Sale
In April 2010, the Honors Student Council is planning to host another large book and media sale in the Red Barn which will be open to the entire university and the general public. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $5,000, and to do so we need to collect a substantial amount of books, CDs, DVDs, LPs, video games, etc. If we are able to raise $5,000, we have a donor that will match our gift, thus enabling the Honors Student Council to provide a pod for a premature infant in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Kosair. Even the smallest number of items will help the Council reach our goal. 5 for $5,000: If every faculty and staff member on campus would donate 5 books or items, the Council will be able to reach its goal by the time of the sale. I would be grateful if you took the time to look through your books, music, and movies in your office and home to select a few items to donate to this sale. The only items we are unable to accept are older textbooks. Books and other items can be dropped off in the office of Luke Buckman at the Etscorn Honors Center. Or, if you would like someone to come by and pick up the items, we would be happy to arrange that as well. If you have a substantial number items that you want to donate, please let us know. We will be happy to arrange a pick-up by one (or several) of the council's executive members. I would like to personally thank you, on behalf of the rest of the Council, for your consideration and for your donations. If you intend to donate please do so by April 2, 2010. I truly believe this is a wonderful cause and I hope that you can help us meet our goal of raising $5,000 for the Kosair Children's Hospital NICU. Thank you so much. Kind regards, Luke Buckman
