Pamela Fleitz

Pamela Fleitz received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Louisville School of Music in 1982.   While teaching choral music at Bullitt Central High School in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, she earned a MA and Rank 1 in School Counseling at Western Kentucky University. Additionally, she received an endorsement for Music Consultant.

After 31 years serving as a music educator and school guidance counselor, Ms. Fleitz was the District Music Specialist for Jefferson County Public Schools from 2001-2013. Upon retirement from public education in 2013, Pam became a Lecturer at the University of Louisville School of Music.

Ms. Fleitz has been a member of Percussive Arts Society and American Choral Directors Association. She is an active member of the National Association of Music Educators and the Kentucky Music Education Association.  During her tenure as JCPS Music Specialist, she was an active member of the Kentucky Department of Education Arts Advisory Group, KMEA Chairperson for the Commission on Music Education and was appointed to the state committee to be a member of the writing team of the Arts & Humanities Program Review, which became the new accountability system to the arts in Kentucky.

Throughout her career in music education, Pam has been recognized as Bullitt Central High School Teacher of the Year and selected to the BCHS Alumni Hall of Fame Inaugural Class of 2012.  She has received the KMEA Citation of Service Award for District 12 four times (2008,2012,2013 and 2015), and the Phi Beta Mu Outstanding Contributor Award in 2010.

Through her volunteer services with the Kentucky Community Crisis Team (where she is a co-coordinator for Region 6), she received the Governor’s Citation Award from the Kentucky Cabinet of Health and Family Services and the Commission on Community Volunteerism and Service in 2015.

Pam is an active member of the Louisville Winds Ensemble as principal timpanist.  She enjoys traveling, cycling and hiking.
