Christopher Doane

 

 Christopher Doane is Professor of Music and Dean of the School of Music at the University of Louisville, a position he has held since 2002. Previous academic appointments include the University of South Florida in Tampa (1982-2002) where he served as Director of the School of Music and Coordinator of Performing Arts (1995-2002), and as Director of Bands at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland (1981).

Dr. Doane currently serves on the boards of the Louisville Orchestra and Louisville Ballet, as well as the Friends of the UofL School of Music and Chamber Music Society of Louisville. Additionally, he was twice elected member of the Commission on Accreditation for the National Association of Schools of Music and serves as a frequent music program reviewer and presenter at national meetings of the association.

His publications have appeared in Research Perspectives in Music Education, Update - Applications of Research in Music Education, Dialogue in Instrumental Music Education, Music Educators Journal, and the College Band Directors National Association Journal. Dr. Doane is a two-time recipient of university teaching awards at the University of South Florida (1991 and 1995) and recognized as the Florida College Music Educator of the Year in 1998.

Dean Doane's academic degrees include the Bachelor of Music Education and Ph.D. degrees from The Ohio State University and the Master of Music degree from the University of Akron.
