Opera Theatre

OPERA WORKSHOP MEETS DURING THE FALL SEMESTER ONLY. This Course is under the musical direction of Kimcherie Lloyd, with stage direction by Michael Ramach. Opera Workshop is designed to introduce singers to opera performance and acting for opera. The semester ends with the performance of a scenes program, including scenes from opera, operetta and musical theatre. Students are admitted to the course by voice faculty recommendation or audition.

OPERA THEATRE performs a fully-staged music theatre piece with orchestral accompaniment during the spring semester. In the past four years, the Opera Theatre has performed one-act operas including Miss Havisham's Wedding, Night, Game of Chance, Riders to the Sea, THE MAGIC FLUTE, THE BEGGAR'S OPERA and THE TENDER LAND. Members are selected by audition. It is strongly recommended that participants in the Opera Theatre participate in Opera Workshop in the semester prior to their performance.
