SEAN PARSONS – piano

Sean Parsons is a jazz pianist, composer, arranger, and educator. Originally from Illinois, Sean holds a Bachelor’s degree in music composition from Illinois Wesleyan University, a Master’s degree in jazz studies from DePaul University, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Illinois.
Sean is a faculty member at Marshall University in Huntington, WV where he teaches many of the core classes in their jazz studies program. In addition to his teaching, Sean arranges for and performs with Landau Murphy Jr. (America’s Got Talent Winner, 2011) and is sought after as a performer and clinician nationwide, most recently returning as the director of the North Dakota All-State Jazz Combo. Some of the renowned musicians Sean has performed with include Clark Terry, James Moody, Jon Faddis, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Randy Brecker and Steve Turre.
Sean’s first album as a leader entitled “Introduction” was released in 2011.
He currently resides in Chesapeake, OH with his wife, twin children, two horses, three dogs, a parrot, and a turtle, most of which are named after jazz musicians.
