CMP Admission & Registration

Admission is open to any beginning student. Students having had more than one year of previous instruction need to contact Dr. Stephen Mattingly at 852-5607.

Registration Options

Students may register for:

1. 16 lessons for the Fall or Spring semester
2. 32 lessons for the Fall and Spring semester
3. 6 or 8 lessons for the Summer semester
4. on-going registration is available at any time

Registration Fee

There will be a $20.00 registration fee per student per semester. For families with more than one child in the department, the second child's registration fee is $10.00 and the third child's fee is $5.00.

Payment

Payment must be made in full at the beginning of each semester. There will be a $20.00 late fee for payments received after the due date, and a $30.00 fee on all returned checks.

Returning students may register at anytime by mail or in person before 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, August 10-13. Students must complete and return the registration form along with payment. Payment may be made by check, money order, Visa, or MasterCard to the University of Louisville School of Music Community Music Program, Louisville, KY 40292, no later than Monday, August 16, 2010.

Once your registration has been received and processed, your teacher will receive by mail a PAID CARD VOUCHER.

Teachers will not be allowed to begin lessons until they have received this paid card.

Refunds

Tuition is only refunded because of illness or injury documented by a written statement from a physician. The registration fee is non-refundable. All refund requests must be made in writing and must be approved by the director.

New Student Registration

Changing Instructors

Students wishing to change instructors may do so after gaining the approval of the Department Director and the private instructor.

Missed Lessons/Classes

Notification by the student of inability to attend a private lesson does not excuse payment for the lesson, which must be paid for whether taken or missed. At the teacher's discretion, unavoidable absences will be made up when possible. There is no refund for missed group classes. If a teacher must cancel a class, that class will be made up. There is a week at the end of each semester devoted to make-up lessons.

School Closing Due To Weather

All classes and private lessons in the Community Music Program shall be canceled for a day or the remainder of a day at the moment of public notification when either the Jefferson County Schools, Oldham County Schools or the University of Louisville closes due to prevailing hazardous weather conditions. If there are exceptions, students will be contacted by their private teachers. Since neither the student nor the teacher is accountable for such conditions, teachers shall be responsible for rescheduling no more then two (2) private and one (1) class lesson missed as a result of weather related circumstances.

Safety Policy

For the safety of all of our students, we ask that you escort your child directly to their class/lesson. Then pick them up promptly at the end of the class/lesson. Please do not allow children to wander unsupervised through the building. It is not the responsibility of the faculty or the staff to supervise children outside of their class/lesson time.
