Louisville Youth Jazz Workshop
The Louisville Youth Jazz Workshop is open to students
of all levels from throughout
the area, with weekly, directed rehearsals and regularly performing concerts throughout
the area and region.
Saxophonist Samir Kambarov will be director of the ensemble. From
Rostov-on-Don, Russia, Samir will graduate with a Master’s in Jazz Performance from UofL in
December. He also graduated from the prestigious Rostov State Rachmaninov Conservatoire
with a Master’s degree in Jazz Performance and Education. He is an exceptional musician
and accomplished educator. The faculty and graduate teaching assistants of the Jamey
Aebersold Jazz Studies Program will support Samir by being actively involved with the group
by presenting master classes, sectionals and group/private lessons. We are all committed to
offering a one-of-a-kind educational experience for all interested students.
Rehearsals will begin in mid-January 2013 on Sunday afternoons,
2:00 to 3:30 at the School of Music for sixteen to seventeen weeks. Parking is free on
weekends with a large lot immediately next to the SofM. The cost, including Community Music
Program registration fee, will be $120.
