Louisville Youth Jazz Workshop

the area, with weekly, directed rehearsals and regularly performing concerts throughout

the area and region.

 

Saxophonist Samir Kambarov will be director of the ensemble. From

Rostov-on-Don, Russia, Samir will graduate with a Master’s in Jazz Performance from UofL in

December. He also graduated from the prestigious Rostov State Rachmaninov Conservatoire

with a Master’s degree in Jazz Performance and Education. He is an exceptional musician

and accomplished educator. The faculty and graduate teaching assistants of the Jamey

Aebersold Jazz Studies Program will support Samir by being actively involved with the group

by presenting master classes, sectionals and group/private lessons. We are all committed to

offering a one-of-a-kind educational experience for all interested students.

 

Rehearsals will begin in mid-January 2013 on Sunday afternoons,

2:00 to 3:30 at the School of Music for sixteen to seventeen weeks. Parking is free on

weekends with a large lot immediately next to the SofM. The cost, including Community Music

Program registration fee, will be $120.
