The U of L Trumpet Ensemble is fund raising to assist in their travel to the Orvieto Musica, a chamber music festival in Orvieto, Italy. We are conducting a World Record setting event, and the world-famous Churchill Downs has very graciously offered to help our fund-raising efforts by hosting this event on Sat., May 17. We are trying to set five World Records- 1. the largest number of trumpeters to play "Call to the Post" for an actual race; 2. the largest number of trumpeters to play "Bugler's Holiday" with a brass band accompaniment; 3. the largest number of horns to play the beautiful slow Horn Solo from "Tchaikovsky 5th Symphony" with brass band; 4. the largest number of trombonists to play "Lassus Trombone" with brass band; and 5. the largest number of tubas and euphoniums to play "POWER" by John Stevens. Derby City Brass Band, conducted by John Jones, and the U of L Trumpet Ensemble will also be featured on this program. Each participant will pay a $20 fee and come play with us on this event. They will all receive a tee shirt commemorating the event.
