Question: what do a UofL cheerleader, a deranged actor, a bossy janitor, a crazy academic, a hypochondriac, two airheads, various wily and lusty servants, a ruthless social climber, a rude fencing instructor and a fake Turkish prince have in common? Answer: they all feature in the play entitled "Nous jouons Molière!" (Variations sur Molière) to be performed in French by UofL students on the Belknap campus of the University of Louisville. The one-act play, written by Sylvaine Hinglais, features a selection of some of the most celebrated scenes from the comedies of Molière, France's leading comic playwright.
"Nous jouons Molière!" (Variations sur Molière) will be performed on Tuesday April 9 and Thursday April 11 at 2:50 pm in 205 Humanities. These performances are free and open to the public. Parking is available in the visitor lots on the Belknap Campus. The performance will run for a total of forty minutes. The play involves a good deal of physical comedy and was selected to appeal to both an audience of native speakers and beginning language learners, so come and share the magical world of Molière with us!
