BUILDING
by Erin Lewenauer

My hand is on the door
in the dark
you say

It’s a movie,
so you can’t go back.

The way things are going
I believe you.

Somehow the lace of a shadow
stole itself through the walls

and we found ourselves to be

on the thinner side
for once
making maps
and pressing the pencils down
to what we were once able to assemble
in what looked like

our space.
