Carolyn Smith, M.D. is an Assistant Professor of Urology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.  Dr. Smith was most recently the Chief of Urologic Services at Ireland Army Hospital, Fort Knox, Kentucky.  She has special interest in the care of geriatric patients, as well as patients with spinal cord and neurological disorders.  Her areas of expertise include geriatric urology, evaluation and treatment of voiding and elimination disorders, prostate surgery,male and female incontinence surgery,male and female sexual dysfunction and libido therapies, evaluation and treatment of male infertility, treatment of urologic cancer, urologic trauma and reconstruction and renal stone surgery and treatment

 

Dr. Smith received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and her doctorate of medicine from the Uniformed Services University F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine.  Following her first year of surgical training she served as a flight surgeon in the Second Infantry Division, Republic of South Korea.  After this assignment she completed her urology residency training at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.   She served as Chief of Urology at Fort Knox, Kentucky from 2000-2006.  She is board certified by the American Board of Urology.
