The Audiology Program at the University of Louisville offers a variety of unique clinical services at a variety of sites. Services are provided and/or supervised by the faculty and staff. Students will initially rotate through the university clinical sites, including the Ambulatory Care Building and University of Louisville Hospital, Kosair-Children's Hospital, University Audiology Associates, and HearCare Associates. Students also have the opportunity for clinical rotations in affiliated sites outside the university.
Pediatric Audiological Services
Hearing testing including:
- Immittance tests (tympanometry and acoustic reflexes)
- Otoacoustic emission testing
- Behavioral Audiometry
- Soundfield testing
- Visual reinforcement audiometry
- Conditioned play audiometry
- Standard testing
Advanced diagnostic testing including:
- Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR)
- Threshold search
- Frequency specific tone bursts
- Bone conducted stimuli
- Auditory Steady State Response (ASSR)
- Middle-latency and Late-latency Response (MLR/LVR)
Consultation and information regarding hearing loss and treatment options
Pediatric hearing aid fitting and management provided by pediatric Audiologists
- Electroacoustic verification of hearing aid fittings
- Pediatric accessories
Cochlear implant program including evaluation and follow-up services
Assistive listening devices for personal or group communication
- Personal FM systems for infants and children
Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) evaluations
Comprehensive vestibular assessments:
- Rotary Chair (particularly for children)
- Electronystagmography (ENG)
- Platform Posturography
(Assessments performed at Kosair Children’s Hospital )
(Amplification and vestibular services provided at University Audiology Associates)
Adult Audiological Services
Complete audiological evaluations including:
- Pure tone audiology
- Speech audiology
- Immittance tests (tympanometry and acoustic reflexes)
- Otoacoustic emission testing
Neurodiagnostic ABR
Consultation and information regarding hearing loss and treatment options
Hearing aid selection and fitting
Aural rehabilitation classes
Cochlear implant program including evaluation and follow-up services
Assistive listening devices for personal or group communication
Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) evaluations
Comprehensive vestibular assessments
Worker's compensation exams
