Dr. M. Gay Masters received her BA from Ohio Wesleyan University, her MA in Speech Pathology from the University of Cincinnati, and her PhD in Communicative Disorders from the University of Buffalo.  She taught at Illinois State University and the University of Buffalo before joining the faculty at the University of Louisville.  She teaches courses in the acquisition of language development, including school-age language disorders.  She also teaches courses on fluency disorders and augmentative and alternative communication.

Dr. Masters’ clinical emphasis is in stuttering and in pediatric speech and language disorders.  She has worked with children with learning disabilities and auditory processing disorder since 1984.  She is qualified to dispense the Fluency Master, a device which can assist a person who stutters to speak fluently.  She is the co-editor of the book, Central Auditory Processing Disorders:  Mostly Management.  Dr. Masters has presented at the local, state and national level in the areas of auditory processing disorders, language learning disability and limited English proficiency.
