Four ongoing clinical and bench research efforts focus upon development of EMR decision support programing to compensate for fragmented care of patients with lupus; lupus urinary biomarkers and clinometrics; modifiable risk factors and interventions to ameliorate dropout rates in adolescent transition to adult care; mechanisms of fibrotic and inflammatory lung disease in scleroderma and after lung transplantation.
The division is equally committed to a fifth curriculum development project using a zoomable user interface. Each of these projects is supported via collaboration with an extramural institution or other division with the department of medicine.
The Division of Rheumatology hosts an annual one-day visit from faculty or and fellows from a collaborating institution to formulate new hypotheses.
