Business First profiles new asthma treatment; new doctors announced
Treatment is first of its kind in region; Division welcomes new doctors
Tanya Wiese, D.O., and the University of Louisville Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Disorders Medicine were the subject of a recent feature story in Louisville's Business First magazine.
The publication highlighted Dr. Wiese and the division as the first in the area to utilize the Alair Bronchial Thermoplasty System, the first non-pharmacological treatment for adults with severe, persistent asthma who don’t respond to standard treatments.

Dr. Lee see adults through the Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Disorders Medicine practice of University Medical Associates, and treating children through University Allergy and Immunology in the ULP pediatrics practice.
Dr. Lee is the collective groups first full-time allergist.
Dr. Lee completed training in both pediatrics and adult internal medicine, as well as a 3-year allergy and immunology fellowship at the University of Cincinnati.
His expertise includes: rhinitis; sinusitis; skin testing for allergic triggers of asthma; evaluation of aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease; management of drug allergies; immune deficiency workups for recurrent pneumonias; and assistance with diagnosis and management of hypersensitivity pneumonitis.
"I see a large part of my role as the consultant who can help the asthma patient (especially those with concurrent rhinitis and sinusitis) identify allergic triggers and offer environmental control, medical therapy, and even immunotherapy to improve health and quality of life," Dr. Lee said.

► David Nunley, M.D., joined U of L Health Care following appointments at the University of Pittsburgh, Emory University in Atlanta, and The Ohio State University.
Dr. Nunley presently holds an appointment as Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Louisville.
He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Nunley has authored numerous publications and delivered several international presentations related to lung transplantation.
His special interests include the critical care management of solid organ transplant patients, pulmonary complications of solid organ transplantation, and lung transplantation for suppurative pulmonary disorders.
