McKell, Physician, Weiss Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL; "Environmental Lung Disease"; 1) Definitions of indoor and outdoor pollution and their sources; 2) Basic airway anatomy, focusing on mechanisms to filter out airborne contaminants and how these mechanisms are bypassed by many particles and antigens; 3) Immunological pathways that airborne pollutants trigger to cause disease, defining areas of uncertainty; 4) Brief reviews of typical environmental lung diseases including irritant-induced asthma (RADS), hypersensitivity pneumonitis, COPD and a few less common entities
