Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences

The department offers a wide range of pre-clinical and clinical electives. Pre-clinical electives run from 8 to 16 weeks. Clinical electives are generally four weeks, with the exception of Senior Honors Psychiatry, which is an eight week rotation.

Approximately 25% of first- and second-year students take pre-clinical electives in psychiatry. 20% of senior students takes clinical electives in psychiatry. The medical school's senior ambulatory care requirement may be satisfied by taking our Outpatient Psychiatry elective; 10% of seniors choose this roation each year.
