Community Service Fall 2013 Schedule
Community service projects are scheduled each semester. The fall 2013 community service schedule will be posted soon. We will be serving at the Ronald McDonald House, Volunteers of America Family Emergency Shelter, The American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society and Supplies Overseas. Students are encouraged to also seek individual opportunities to serve.
There are five required service projects for the fall 2013 semester.
The Wayside Christian Mission is a homeless shelter that provides many services to meet the needs of our local homeless population; men, women and children. Your involvement can help make a difference! No dates will be scheduled for the fall 2013 semester, but feel free to volunteer on your own.
The Ronald McDonald House community service project is with the Adopt-A-Meal Program. We prepare and serve meals to the families residing there while their child is in the hospital. Breakfast/brunch or dinner is served on the weekends by volunteers. The summer dates are posted! Please pick one date to volunteer.
Volunteers of America is always seeking volunteers. You can volunteer anytime during the year or for special events. We have some upcoming outreach events for the fall 2013 semester. Three Friday Fun Nights have been scheduled.
The Harambee Health Center located in the Presbyterian Community Center offers numerous outreach opportunities to the surrounding community. No service projects have been scheduled this semester. You are welcome to volunteer on your own.
In addition to our group community service projects at the Ronald McDonald House and at Wayside Christian Mission, if time allows, please consider volunteer at one of our area hospitals. We currently have some of our students volunteering at University and Kosair Children's Hospital.
On Saturday August 16 @ 6:30-8:00 p.m. the Post-bac Pre-med Program is hosting a Back to School Bash and School Supply Drive for the children at the VOA Family Emergency Shelter!
