Latest Technology

by Brown,Kristen Hartz last modified Jul 11, 2011 03:21 PM

Our program offers advanced technology from state-of-the-art mannequins for crisis management simulations to online tools for simplifying the residents’ daily lives. Below is a sample of what we offer.

  • Online Learning Opportunities

Anytime, anywhere learning comes to the residency program by way of an array of tools and websites for residents. Examples include streaming presentations developed in-house by the Pediatric Emergency Management division, Quality Improvement modules from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, online nutrition seminars from Abbott, and a breastfeeding training from the Yale Primary Care Pediatrics Curriculum online.

  • Tegrity

Our core conferences are audio recorded and integrated with PowerPoint using the software Tegrity. We then add post-session quizzes to the presentation and load the entire bundle to Blackboard, giving residents the flexibility to receive conference credit when they aren’t able to attend noon conference.

  • SoftChalk

SoftChalk online modules are interactive presentations about real-life patient cases the residents encounter. Within each case, residents will walk-through patient signs and symptoms, the mechanisms used to diagnose the patient, treatment options, and follow-up information. Short, graded quizzes allow residents to receive conference credit for each quiz they successfully complete.

  • Amion

Our chief residents manage the resident schedules online using the web-based tool, Amion. Residents can view the entire house staff schedule as well as create custom views of their own schedule for all rotations by day, month or year.

  • New Innovations

Residents can logon anytime, anywhere to New Innovations and enter their duty hours and procedure logs, download needed forms and review up-to-date announcements.
