Application Process
The University of Louisville Department of Orthopaedic Surgery uses the ERAS electronic service for application to our program.. The Electronic Residency Application System program was developed by the Association of American Medical Colleges to save time and effort by consolidating and streamlining the application process. Each applicant must complete a common residency application on a computer disk. The Deans office of your medical school will load into a secure workstation and along with the student's scanned transcript, Dean's letter and recommendation letters, and USMLE scores, will transmit this information over the internet to each of the residency programs designated by the applicant. Our residency coordinator will receive the applicant's information, automatically collated, for review and evaluation. Applications are then printed for review by faculty. International applicants must apply through the ECFMG and ERAS. The ECFMG will assume the role of the Dean's offices for the international medical graduates who apply for residency positions. The ECFMG will also transmit a certification status report and USMLE scores for these applicants.
Application deadline is October 31 each year. Interviews take place in January. Interviewees will be notified through the ERAS e-mail system.
