Pediatric Adolescent Gynecology

Our top priority at the Division of Pediatric Adolescent Gynecology is providing sensitive, age-appropriate examinations and treatment, using instruments and equipment especially designed to examine young children and teens. Our faculty understand the variations of normal prepubertal anatomy and physiology, and know how to communicate with a child and with her parents.

In addition to evaluating and treating conditions that can affect girls from birth to young adulthood, our physicians perform many specialized procedures such as:

  • Surgical treatment for Vaginal Agenesis (failure of the vagina to develop or grow)
  • Laparoscopic management of ovarian cysts (neonate to adolescence)
  • Laparoscopic diagnosis/ management of endometriosis

Education

  • Fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology
    • Provides an opportunity for gynecologists who have completed their residency to acquire additional skills in pediatric and adolescent gynecology
    • Provides intense education which focuses on the medical and surgical aspects of the subspecialty and emphasizes the endocrinologic aspects of managing pediatric gynecological patients. More about the Fellowship.
  • International Outreach
University OB/GYN Associates Division of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology is a site for the International Federation of Infantile and Juvenile Gynecology (IFEPAG). Because of our experience in a multitude of areas, we have a directive to train physicians to sit for this international certification.

Research
