Epilepsy
Epilepsy is characterized by recurrent seizures. Seizures may range from dramatic convulsions to brief periods of unresponsiveness or confusion. Epilepsy is not a disease- it is a symptom of an electrical malfunction in the brain. Comprehensive treatment begins with testing to determine the cause of this electrical malfunction.
Dr. Pradeep Modur, M.D. are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy. They will perform a comprehensive evaluation utilizing specialized tests to determine the type of epilepsy and best course of treatment.
Available testing includes:
- Outpatient or Inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring.
- Advanced brain imaging including MRI, MRS, PET and Ictal SPECT
- Comprehensive surgical evaluation and treatment including Wada and Neuropsychological testing.
The goal of treatment is no seizures and no side-effects. In order to achieve this goal, we offer a comprehensive array of treatments including medication, the Vagus Nerve Stimulator and surgical treatments.
