Stroke Mini-Fellowship

Description:
The experience in a mini-fellowship in Stroke provides residents with many opportunities to gain experience in, but not limited to:
- Diagnosis
- Comprehensive Treatment
- Management
- On Going Stroke Research
The stroke mini-fellowship is taken during stroke wards and elective time. This learning experience does not conflict with training in general Neurology, but broadens the scope of resident interest in the subspecialty.
Length of time:
Tailor elective or inpatient months at least 3 months during a 12 month period. The mini-fellowship opportunities and duration will be decided between the resident and the stroke director.
Responsibilities:
- Responds to ER Stroke patient calls
- Clinical research related to stroke (1 per year)
- Independent research/manuscript writing related to stroke (1 per year)
- Broaden knowledge base in new treatments
- Keep up with articles available on stroke and in major neurology journals
- Supervise or assist junior residents in acute patient care, i.e. thrombolysis
