Class Officer Meeting Minutes: 3/29/07
(Attended by all officers.)
President:
- The past year has gone very well – please make sure to apply for elections if you want to continue your class office
- Track Captain Election: position is similar to a course rep. (he/she will attend a monthly meeting with the class officers and fill out a formal report every two weeks); each track has one and elects their own captain (i.e. “A” nominated “A” and only “A” votes); Elections are April 9th – will send out an email soon
- Pagers: everyone is required to have one – we are still waiting on the exact dates that the representative will come to school – will send out and email as soon as the dates are confirmed
- 2nd Year Schedule Change: there have been several proposals – for instance, possibly expanding micro to 4 blocks and path to 5 blocks (while keeping pharm the same) – there will be no increase in lecture hours, they will just be spread out over a longer timeframe -- Several people made suggestions to give extra time for studying for shelf exams.
- 1st Year Schedule Change: embryo and histo will most likely be split into two classes; biochem could also be moved around
- Professionalism Peer Evaluation: the school is trying to figure out a way to evaluate professionalism because it will eventually be part of the dean’s letter, not to mention, it can help seek out those individuals who may need some assistance and spotlight those people who are excellent students, but don’t run for office, etc. – class attendance is not factored in – there will be questions from various arenas – there is a pilot project in the works for three ICC groups (they will evaluate themselves, then two random people will anonymously evaluate them as well – this will hopefully provide feedback to both the students and the administration)
- Don’t forget that we will have a week of orientation prior to third year (orientation begins on June 18th).
- If you have any questions about specific rotations, you can contact the coordinator for each department through student affairs.
Vice- President:
- Boards: many people have joined the 4th-year led study groups and have had successful meetings; lunch reviews for high-yield topics will be held in the upcoming weeks; an email suggesting possible study plans will be sent soon
- PDAs: took a survey about when we should receive PDAs and how helpful they were during the first two years – most people voted that we should get them in December of our 2nd year and that they were neutral in helping us during our first two years
- Thank you to everyone for a great year!
