by Puckett,Jason last modified Feb 25, 2011 03:35 PM

Finding a successful model of collaboration, publishing, scholarship and promotion from the daily work in medical education was the focus of a recent workshop presented by the U of L Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine, Office of Medical Education, and the Department of Pediatrics.

The workshop was presented by Jim Clardy, M.D. and Carol Thrush, Ed.D. of the University of Arkansas on June 3-4. They were invited to give their presentation in Louisville by Dr. Amy Holthouser.

The two-hour workshop "Medical Education Scholarship Collaborative Working Groups - A Brief Overview of Principles and Strategies" was given twice over their visit to maximize exposure to faculty, and was designed to "jump-start" scholarly work with a viable working group.

Roles and structure of a successful working group were taught and practiced, as well as tips for planning successfully for scholarly productivity in daily educational work.
