Study to explore the increased risk of heart disease as it relates to diabetes

Betty C Villfuerte, M.D., of the U of L Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism & Diabetes, is conducting a study at University Medical Associates to further understand the increased risk of heart disease and explore ways to reduce it.

She seeks people with type 2 diabetes, over the age of 50 and who have cardiovascular disease to take part in a new clinical study involving a novel treatment that has been demonstrated to improve glycemic control in people with type 2 diabetes.

Participants must be able to attend seven visits in the first year of the trial and two annual visits until the end of 2015.

Study related exams, procedures, access to trial medication and blood glucose testing as well as compensation for travel will be provided.
