Infectious Diseases division to offer clinical research courses

Both programs will be held at the U of L Clinical and Translational Research Building, 505 South Hancock Street.

The University of Louisville Division of Infectious Diseases will once again be offering courses to health care workers interested in a basic and concise review of the methodology for clinical research.

"The Principles of Clinical and Translational Research" will span over two weeks beginning August 6, 2012, at the University of Louisville Clinical and Translational Research Building (505 South Hancock Street).

The sessions will be directed by Dr. Julio Ramirez, Chief of the U of L Division of Infectious Diseases, and Dr. Colleen Jonsson, Director of the Center for Predictive Medicine for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Reviewing the process of Clinical and Translational Research from generation of the research idea to publication of the study manuscript is the primary goal of the course.

In addition, a special symposium, "Clinical and Translational Research in Infectious Diseases" will be held from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Friday, August 24, also at the Clinical and Translational Research Building.

Cost of the entire course is $100 per participant for the 28 hours of instruction. To obtain the final diploma, participants must attend a minimum of 75% of the classes.

Scholarships are available through the Division of Infectious Diseases.
