The University of Louisville Department of Medicine faculty and trainees continue to excel in education, research and service. This year, like every year before it, we were reminded about the outstanding people that make up this program and the amazing talent that surrounds us.
During Awards Day, held on June 3, 2010, over 12 awards were presented to trainees and faculty who have excelled in their craft.
The awards represent, not only a recognition of their efforts, but a thank you gift from the department for reminding us of the importance of what we do as academicians.
In addition, we also highlighted those who are leaving our Internal Medicine and Medicine-Pediatrics Programs and Fellowships to extend their training or to join the ranks of private practice and academia throughout this country and beyond.
We are proud of our trainees and know that they will extend our legacy wherever they go.
This year, trainees and faculty joined forces to publish close to 300 manuscripts; and our faculty were recipients of close to 60 awards from local, regional and national/international organizations and attracted 65 new federal, private, and industry research grants.
In addition to faculty and trainees, I want to thank the leadership of the department, program directors, and staff for another remarkable year.
Embrace yourselves for 2010-2011 which promises to be even better. Congratulations to all!
Jesse Roman, M.D.
