Louisville health-care leader Ron Greenberg has been named executive director of the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute, officials from the University of Louisville and Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare announced Aug. 12.

The institute focuses on the evaluation, development and improvement of bio-adaptive heart innovations, including heart-assist devices, biofeedback sensors and related technologies.

Greenberg will remain senior vice president for Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare as he takes the reins of the institute, which is a partnership between UofL and Jewish Hospital with support from the Kentucky Department of Commercialization and Innovation.

The 85,000-square-foot institute building is scheduled to open in 2006 on the UofL Health Sciences Center campus in the Louisville Medical Center.
