UofL physicians are the heart of External site icon UofL Health Care, an umbrella that encompasses several institutions.  External site icon University Hospital, an acute care and Level One trauma facility that includes inpatient services and a full range of diagnostic, therapeutic, emergency and surgical services.  University Hospital also boasts the state’s first joint commission-accredited stroke center, high-risk maternal fetal medicine, inpatient cancer care, a newly-expanded sleep medicine center, a comprehensive epilepsy center, digestive health, geriatrics and the adjacent Ambulatory Care Center, housing a number of outpatient services and specialty clinics. 

The External site icon James Graham Brown Cancer Center, a newly-renovated outpatient facility dedicated to a top-notch patient experience and the latest technologies, including a $15 million investment in state-of-the-art radiation oncology equipment.

External site icon Norton Hospital, a top-ranked patient care facility with medical and surgical beds and outpatient psychiatric services.  Located within a block of the UofL Health Sciences Campus, the hospital provides opportunities for resident training in a private patient setting. Full-time UofL faculty members direct many of the active education programs in anesthesiology, medicine, pathology, psychiatry, radiology, surgery and neurological surgery.

External site icon Kosair Children’s Hospital, also part of External site icon Norton Healthcare, is nationally-recognized for its quality and level of care. Located adjacent to the UofL Health Sciences Center, Kosair’s inpatient and outpatient facilities are the home base for the majority of UofL’s pediatric residency programs.

External site icon Jewish Hospital, also located within a block of UofL, was the site of the world’s first and second implants of the AbioCor implantable replacement heart and the world’s first successful hand transplant. The hospital, flagship of a network of more than 40 health care facilities throughout the region, is home to many specialties including transplant surgery.

External site icon Frazier Rehab Institute, part of the Jewish Hospital and St. Mary’s Health Care network, has been setting a standard of excellence in rehabilitative medicine since 1954. Frazier specializes in the treatment of brain and spinal cord injuries, stroke rehabilitation, movement disorders, amputations, burns, cardiopulmonary conditions and other orthopaedic and neurologic conditions.

The External site icon Veterans Affairs Medical Center, located about three miles east of the UofL Health Sciences Center has an average daily census of more than 300 inpatients and more than 80,000 ambulatory care visits each year. With a large and varied flow of inpatients and outpatients, it is an ideal setting for training in many adult specialties.
