Mini Bio:
I am a native of Frankfort, KY and studied chemical engineering and biochemistry at Rice University prior to returning home for medical school at the University of Kentucky.  After graduation, I completed an internal medicine residency at Washington University in St. Louis and subsequently a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Louisville.  Under the mentorship of Dr. Craig McClain, I am developing a research program in occupational & environmental liver disease as well as alcoholic liver disease.  I currently have research funding through the AASLD (Sheila Sherlock Award) and the NIH through pilot projects in the UofL Alcohol Research Center and the Center for Environmental Genomics and Integrative Biology.  My current work focuses on vinyl chloride induced hepatic hemangiosarcoma and toxicant-associated steatohepatitis (TASH); as well as liver disease medicated by common environmental pollutants such as pesticides, heavy metals, and PCBs.  I am also the principal investigator for several pharmaceutical company sponsored hepatitis C treatment clinical trials at the University of Louisville.
