Dr. Buchanan’s research interests include Bioethics (at present mainly on the ethics of enhancement and of synthetic biology), the philosophy of international law, and social moral epistemology. Dr. Buchanan gave a presentation on the ethics of synthetic biology at the first meeting of President Obama’s Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues.
