The division manages four endowments:
The William Ray Moore Chair in Family Practice and Medical Humanism (held by Dr. Doukas), which is designed to improve the educational process in the area of the humanistic aspects of medicine;
The Gheens Foundation Visiting Scholar in Humanism, The James L. Stambaugh, Jr., Humanities in Medicine Lectureship in Medicine and the Humanities, and the new Samuel Cheng Lectureship in Medical Ethics Series all deal with the humane and benevolent aspects of professional medical care. Many outstanding speakers have visited and speak on a broad array of humanism and ethics topics. Further, these scholars helped to evaluate and give constructive feedback on the ongoing educational reform efforts hat UofL.
