Congratulations to Dr. Christian Furman!
Vice Chair of Geriatrics, Christian Davis Furman, M.D., M.S. P. H., has been selected for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) Innovation Advisors Program. She is the only Kentuckian among the 73 individuals from 27 states and the District of Columbia to participate.
The initiative, launched by the CMS Innovation Center in October 2011, helps health professionals deepen skills that will drive improvements to patient care and reduce costs. The participants will support the CMS Innovation Center in testing new models of health care delivery system reform, and improve their own health systems so their commjnities will have better heath and better care at a lower cost.

UofL Geriatrics Exceeds Fundraising Goal!
Thanks Everyone!
Thanks to the generosity and leadership of our Geriatrics Advisory Board, UofL Geriatrics will now be able to expand the scope of care provided to our patients, their families and caregivers.
We have been successful in raising over $250,000 to match the $250,000 gift provided to us by an anonymous donor. The donor's gift was contingent upon the department's ability to raise the matching amount by June 30. Thanks to the generosity of our Advisory Board, faculty, staff and other donors, we have been able to raise a total of $263,285!
This will now enable UofL Geriatrics to build our new clinical space on the first floor of the Health Care Outpatient Center (HCOC) at 401 E. Chestnut Street. This new location will provide improved physical space to coordinate our Geriatric Evaluation and Treatment Program (GET) - offered only in Kentucky by UofL Geriatrics- where an interdisciplinary approach is used to develop a treatment plan for patients.
