Jean Frazier Lecture Series
The Jean Frazier Lecture Series aims to increase awareness of the causes and effects of Polypharmacy. If Polypharmacy were a disease it would rank in the top six of causes of death. Thanks to Mrs. Frazier, the University of Louisville Department of Family & Geriatric Medicine has implemented a special program called, “The Polypharmacy Initiative”. This is the result of her inspiration and continuing financial support.  It is unique in that it is entirely dedicated to education, research, and outreach to combat the problem of Polypharmacy. Through this initiative, prescribers, patients, medical societies, hospitals and related organizations have been educated regarding Polypharmacy as a major public health problem. A significant component of this Initiative includes a lecture series which attracts experts in the field from all over the world to discuss the problem and share methods to combat Polypharmacy.

Learning Objectives
1. Access issues with acute care of hospitalization of older adults.
2. Discuss rates of hospital readmission and explore methods to reduce readmission rates of older adults.
3. Identify the utilization of neuropsychological assessment of older adults.
4. Learn best practice diabetic care of older adults.
5. Discover strategies to provide optimal geriatric care in the outpatient office.
6. Explain 3 types of drug cost-savings programs.
