A native of Louisville, Kentucky, I taught in the Jefferson County Public School Systems for eight years in secondary science prior to entrance into medical school. I am certified by the American Academy of HIV Medicine as an HIV specialist. My interests and community-oriented medical projects have led to the development of an adolescent health clinic in a local high school as well as the creation of the clinic for HIV-positive women and children, WINGS, in 1995. My grant activities for the WINGS program have totaled over two million dollars. I continue to be active in the community in the education of medical students, residents and lay public in the areas of communicable diseases and family medicine as a career option. I am married with two children, an active participant in the Lutheran Church.
