Rules, Policies, and Credentials Committee (RPCC)
Term: The term of office is three years. Members may not serve on other standing committees (excluding Faculty Forum). Members of this committee who have served two full consecutive terms must wait an additional two full terms before being eligible to serve again.
Membership: This committee consists of eight elected executive faculty, divided on the basis of 1/4 pre-clinical and 3/4 clinical departments, with no department having more than one representative. The committee annually elects its own chair from among its members. The Secretary of the Faculty Forum serves as an ex officio, non-voting member. The RPCC, at minimum, is required to have one female and one under-represented minority member. At-large members may be elected and increase the membership of the committee only by the number of positions needed to achieve the composition adjustment (one for gender and/or one for under-represented minority). Term llimits may be overridden to meet the gender and under-represented minority requirement of this committee.
Responsibilities: The RPCC reviews the School of Medicine Bylaws and Rules for possible changes and proposed recommendations. Recommendations are forwarded to the Faculty Forum and, if approved, to the executive faculty for action. The committee may also be directed to formulate interpretations relative to the Bylaws and Rules. The recommendations are communicated to the dean and forwarded to the Faculty Forum for action. The RPCC develops and reviews procedures whereby departments nominate candidates to university-wide and School of Medicine offices and committees. The committee reviews membership of standing committees, paying particular attention to gender and under-represented minority membership.
Meeting Dates: This committee meets on an "as needed" basis. Time commitment: Three to four meetings, on average, per year with meetings lasting approximately 1 hour. Allow an additional one to two hours for preparation time.
