Committees Appointed by the Dean
The dean appoints members to, and chairs of, the following committees. The dean also defines the membership, terms of appointment, and goals of these committees.
1) Graduate Medical Education Committee
This committee, comprosed of all residency program directors and representatives of the house staff council, is responsible for monitoring compliance with ACGME standards; review of all residency programs; establishment and implementation of policies for selection, evaluation, promotion and dismissal of residents; appropriateness of working conditions; and review of ethical, socioeconomic, medical-legal and cost-containment issues that affect graduate medical education.
2) Space Committee
This committee evaluates requests for space, analyzes the options for meeting space requirements, and makes recommendations to the dean.
3) Student Prizes and Awards
This committee selects recipients of prizes and awards for presentation at the Fall Honors Convocation in November; the Senior Honors Convocation in May, and upon other occasions as requested by the dean.
4) Student Travel Committee
This committee reviews requests from students for travel funds and makes recommendations to the dean.
