Bio

Dr. Villafuerte joined University of Louisville faculty in 2003. Previously she was on the faculty of Emory University as Assistant Professor (1993-2003).  She is a member of the Endocrine Society and the American Diabetes Association.  Her research is focused on cloning and identification of genes critical to insulin actions.  She holds a patent for Insulin-Responsive DNA Binding Protein-1 and Methods to Regulate Insulin-Responsive Genes, under examination by the USPTO and Europe PTO.
