Enrolling its first resident on June 1, 1972, the University of Louisville Emergency Medicine Residency is the second oldest such program in continuous existence in the country. The program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, and is designed to prepare the resident to sit for the certification examination of the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
