Medical Student Clerkship
Medical students are invited to schedule a 4 week rotation in Emergency Medicine at University of Louisville. First hand exposure to a wide variety of adult patients, including trauma and critical is provided. During the rotation, students will also have access to faculty experts in the fields of toxicology, forensics, EMS, and ultrasound.
The experience includes:
- 15 clinical shifts
- Student friendly didactic conferences
- Procedural workshops
- Resident lectures
- Optional pre-hospital helicopter experience
- Team focused educational atmosphere
A course manual will be provided to accompany specific student lectures as well as a loan copy of Emergency Medicine Current Diagnosis and Treatment (6th ed.).
Final course grades are based on:
- 70% Clinical Performance is evaluated by upper level Emergency Medicine residents and faculty during clinical shifts
- 25% Comprehensive Final Exam is a100 question test designed for 4th year medical students (available on internet)
- 5% SAEM Tests are available on the website. Three of choice are required.
